We are pleased to celebrate October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and announce that LifeWire‘s 30th Anniversary Hope Starts Here breakfast fundraising event held today was a success! More than 300 guests attended the moving and inspirational program featuring dynamic keynote speaker Lorenzo Romar, University of Washington Men’s Basketball Coach and guest speaker Norris Frederick, University of Washington outstanding alumni athlete and a 2016 Olympic Track & Field Hopeful. The two motivating men gave passionate personnel testimony about the importance of ending domestic violence by increasing awareness about the devastating cycle of violence that can occur from generation to generation.

Jean Enerson from KING 5 News emceed the breakfast highlighting LifeWire‘s life-saving work to end domestic violence. Honorary Chairs Washington State Attorney General to the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their cutting edge work to end homelessness for domestic violence victims. Issaquah Women’s Club was honored as Volunteer Team of the Year for their work encouraging self-sufficiency and continuing education for LifeWire survivors through the EVE Scholarship Program.
