YWCA Inspire Luncheons bring community members face-to-face with celebrated speakers to build a stronger future for women and families. The YWCA Eastside Inspire Luncheon is Thursday, March 15, and features award-winning actor Helen Hunt as the guest speaker. The event takes place at the Meydenbauer Center, 11100 NE Sixth St., Bellevue, 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Hunt rose to fame playing Jamie Buchman on the hit NBC sitcom “Mad About You,” for which she won four Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, a coveted Screen Actors Guild Award and three American Comedy Awards.
Hunt cemented her place as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors with her portrayal of a single mother and waitress in Jim Brooks’ “As Good As It Gets,” for which she garnered a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Oscar for Best Actress. Hunt has also stood behind the camera, including directing a highly acclaimed short ad about Inspiration Café, a Chicago restaurant that serves and helps train homeless individuals.
YWCA Inspire Luncheons also feature Pulitzer Prize-winning author Sheryl WuDunn in Seattle and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Ellen Goodman in Everett.
These events help build YWCA programs, which open doors to opportunity for women and children in our community to help them transition from homelessness, find jobs, obtain health care and build life skills that produce the confidence they need to transform their lives.
