Jason Silverstein Joins Domain Name Service Provider to Add Technology Experience and Expertise to Enrich Innovative Growth
Kirkland-based Rightside a provider of domain name services that advance the way businesses and consumers define and present themselves online, today announced that it has appointed Jason Silverstein as Vice President of Product and Engineering.
The move will help Rightside, which now owns more than 300,000 of the six million top-level domains (TLDs) currently available to the public, add technology experience and expertise to enrich and accelerate its innovative growth.
A veteran digital executive who has helped a number of teams create online products, services and experiences, Silverstein has worked at both venture-backed start-ups and top Internet companies.
He comes to Rightside from American City Business Journals — a premier publisher of local business, sports and auto news — which employs 1,600 people in over 40 cities.
As Senior Vice President for Digital Operations at American City Business Journals, Silverstein’s teams developed and supported over 300 products, including responsive Web sites, mobile apps, email newsletters and the internal applications that made them possible.
These digital products helped American City Business Journals grow public site traffic 317 percent over the last five years. In addition, Silverstein rebuilt enterprise-scale commerce and content platforms that increased the publisher’s transactional revenue by 200 percent and reduced administrative production work by over 100 man-weeks per year across 43 newsrooms.
Says Rightside CEO Taryn Naidu: “Our company is on the move — expanding, driving and leading the domain name industry — and having an exceptionally talented technology visionary and business builder like Jason on our team will enhance and enrich our ‘branded navigation strategy,’ which is helping legions of consumers and companies more accurately describe themselves on the Internet, control their online identities and take advantage of a multitude of lucrative branding possibilities that simply didn’t exist before.”
Adds Silverstein: “Joining Rightside is an amazing opportunity to help shape and improve the Internet’s next generation for millions of people everywhere. When I think about Rightside’s mission to help people and companies tell their stories, I really get excited about our collective future. I’m deeply passionate about helping others reach their potential, especially my teammates here at Rightside and our growing list of customers.”
Earlier in his career, Silverstein was Vice President for Interactive Media at The Charlotte Observer; he also served in a number of roles at Yahoo, including Chief of Staff / Director of Business Operations in the engineering organization; and he was a co-founder of Internet SportsStations, an online media company, as well as an editor and online video producer for the National Basketball Association.
Silverstein earned a B.A. degree in Chemistry and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA in Information Technology, IT Operations Management and Strategy from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
Rightside inspires and delivers new possibilities for consumers and businesses to define and present themselves online.
